Extremely Biker Friendly Lodging in the Smoky Mountains with the Lowest Rates!
SEVROC Rally, May 2007 at Applecover Inn, Maggie Valley, NC
We are Applecover Inn Motel and Campground in Maggie Valley, NC. We have been biker friendly since our purchase of the property in 1997.
As a great friend quotes, "It ain't what you ride, it's that you ride." Whatever puts you in the wind, makes no difference to us. We appreciate and understand the feeling of being on 2 (or 3?) wheels, and it doesn't really matter to us how you get there!
The motel consists of 21 units. We have small rooms with 1 queen bed, a little bigger units with 1 king bed, larger rooms with 2 queen beds, and a 1 bedroom apartment. Some rooms have fridges. Larger rooms have microwaves, and the rooms with 2 queen beds also have a coffee pot.
We also have an RV park that will accommodate up to a 32' unit. Most of our spots are permanent, but we do have some that are available on a nightly or weekly basis.
There is a Mess Hall that seats about 35, with extra seating for 28 on the patio, along with the ability to seat another 40 if need be. There is a fully stocked kitchen and a charcoal and gas grill for your use. There is also a 52" Plasma Flat Screen to watch whatever you like. We have catered many BBQs in this room, and as mentioned below, we fed 135 on one occasion. So if a meal is something your group would like to do, it would be no problem.
We also have a bike wash area for our guests. We have plenty of bike towels and rags for you to keep your bike clean!
There is also a fire pit that is open to our customers any night they want it. I supply the firewood, and will even light it if need be.
New pavers down.
Pre-pavers. Still, it was always fun!
We have laundry facilities on the premises, and offer bagged ice for sale. We even supply coolers for those riding that don't have room for them.
We host several small rallies right here on our property. We also lead rides on many of the beautiful back roads around this area, and can point you in the right direction for an incredible scenic mountain ride.
The Vulcan Riders and Owners Club (VROC) have their Southeast Rally at our property, with between 75 to 200 bikes usually in attendance. We cater a BBQ for them, all the fixin's for about $7 a head. In 2008, we fed 135! http://sevrocrally.blogspot.com
Next up is the High performance sidecars. This very unique group of folks hook specially made sidecars to very fast bikes, a couple of them to Hayabusas! www.hpsidecar.com
Then, every year in June, our great friends from Virginia come down for 3 or 4 nights. They generally take 80% of the motel or more. There's a fire every night, and guitars have a tendency of getting pulled out! This group has practically become family having been coming here for over 10 years and watching our kids grow up.
Labor Day 2005 Most of them were still Volusias!
Labor Day brings another great group, they call it the Redneck Rally. It started out as a Suzuki Volusia group, but most have switched to Harley Davidsons. We BBQ for this group, too. Another group that has become very close to us.
In addition, there are the Spring and Fall Survivor's Rally in Cherokee and the Harley Dealer's Rally in September. Also, the Handlebar Corral puts on the Thunder in the Smokies in the Spring and Fall. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get new customers for these rallies, as the same groups fill us up every year. However, we are owners of another motel only ½ mile down the street, and would be happy to get you a room there for those rallies.
Also, in the Fall, there is a Goldwing Rally in Fletcher (just south of Asheville.) When it doesn't conflict with the HD Rally, we often get a bunch of GWRRA folks, sometimes when there's not even a rally.
Visitor number since June 7, 2010.
