Turn left onto 19 from Applecover Inn

Continue on 19 through Cherokee, Ela, and Bryson City

In Bryson City, be careful to follow signs for 19 South

After going through Bryson City, continue on 19, getting onto 4 lane (74)

Continue on 74/19

Turn left onto 28 (there is a small Texaco Station here)

28 will take you into and through Franklin

In Franklin, 28 will join with 64. Continue, and head towards Highlands

In Highlands, continue on 64 by turning left and heading towards Cashiers

In Cashiers, at the light, turn left onto 107 and head towards Sylva

107 Will take you through Glenville, then Cullowhee and into Sylva

In Sylva, turn right onto 23, which is also Asheville Highway

This Road will force you onto 23/74

Continue until you find the Blue Ridge Parkway (on your left at top of mt.)

Turn left onto the ramp for the Parkway

Turn right onto the Parkway, headed towards Cherokee

You will see the exit for Maggie Valley (19)

Turn right onto 19, go about 4 miles and you will return to Applecover Inn

 

 

 

 

Between Franklin and Highlands, there are 3 waterfalls. The first is Cullasaja Falls on the right. The parking is VERY limited, and sneaks up on you. The next falls are Dry Falls. There is a well marked parking area with restrooms also. The last falls are Bridal Veil Falls. Highway 64 actually used to go under these falls, and the road there still exists. So you can walk/drive beneath these falls, which are just before you get to Highlands. Highlands has quite a few places to eat, as does Cashiers. One of our favorites is in Cashiers -- Carolina Smokehouse. It is on 64 before you get to Cashiers.
